Marriage Service
Muslim Nikah NYC offers Nikah services both on and off-site. Our director, a licensed Civil Celebrant, is authorized to perform such services throughout the state of New York.
MIC Requirements
- All Islamic requirements for marriage must be met by the couple.
- Prior to marriage, the couple (at a minimum, the groom) must meet with the person performing the ceremony.
- Prior to the Nikah Ceremony, the couple must obtain a marriage license.
- To request a Nikah Ceremony at MIC, the couple must contact the contact listed below via email or phone. This request must be received at least two weeks before the ceremony.
- The Nikah Ceremony can be held at MIC or in a different location. The couple's identification will be required.
- During the ceremony, two Muslim males who know the couple or at least the bride must be present as witnesses.
- Regardless of the bride's age or previous marital status, a Wakeel / guardian must be present at and during the marriage ceremony.
- Although the MIC does not charge a fee for officiating Nikah ceremonies, we encourage participants to make a donation to the Center so that we can provide similar services to the community at large.
